Prescription Drug Take-Back Event

Just a friendly reminder that this Saturday, September 29th, 8a-2p, at the Jackson County Recycling Center, the JC Sheriff’s Department and the National Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) are hosting a drug take-back event. Please clean out your medicine cabinets and drop off all unused prescription and over-the-counter drugs during this event. No need for original containers, no questions asked, just take them to the recycling center and get them out of your house and out of reach to our youth.

This is how we begin to reduce access to prescription drug abuse and deaths!!

TFJCK receives American Medical Association grant for $8,000

Together For Jackson County Kids has received $8,000 from the AMA (American Medical Association) Foundation for prescription drug abuse prevention, education, and awareness. We will be using this money to start a Prescription Drug Abuse Prevention Task Force in Jackson County. We will train youth and adult facilitators in the Good Drugs Gone Bad program, launch an aggressive media campaign to raise awareness of Rx (prescription) and OTC (over-the-counter) drug abuse, and host a community forum that focuses on Rx and OTC drug abuse. We will keep you posted as this project progresses. Please let me know if you are interested in being on this new task force.
